Are you so stressed every day that you can't even take a breath? Have you noticed that you can't sleep? Have you noticed that when you breathe, it's short and high? Have you noticed that your stamina, your energy is greatly reduced? Have you noticed that your body is tired, that you feel fatigued all the time? That you wake as if you hadn't slept? Your neck is sore, your back it sore, you have headaches, and are you just tired of it all?
My name is Jackie Cole, and I'm a massage therapist, a stress relaxation expert at America's Wellness Clinic. One of the main things that you can do to revitalize your life and your body is to take in oxygen. So today we're just doing to have a nice little breathing exercise.
I'd like you to just notice your breath going down into the bottom of your belly, wherever that feels like for you, as opposed to be up here in the short and high. When you take a nice, deep breath, just feel the breath down in the belly. If you like, you can put your hands down on your belly, your lower belly, and when you breathe in, just let your breath inhale, just let your stomach expand. And when you exhale, just let your stomach contract all the way down to your spine.
We call this deep breathing. It is a number one key factor to relax. It relaxes your body, it relaxes your mind. And so for the next five breaths, let's go ahead and do this. And one, breathing in, letting the stomach expand. And two, breathing out, letting the stomach contract. Just notice. Again, breathing in, letting the stomach inhale. And exhaling, letting the stomach contract down to the spine. Very good, we're doing the third, inhale and exhale. Inhale all the goodness that you're inhaling, and exhale all the tension, all the stress out of your body. One more, inhaling with gratitude down at the base of your belly, full inhalation. And exhale, all the way down to the spine.
